How does it work? Meladerm® works by combining the well documented properties of the most effective and safest active ingredients. Most of the active ingredients in the formula are derived from natural extracts such as Mulberry, Licorice and Bearberry plants. Your skin colour comes from a natural pigment called melanin. Melanin pigment is synthesized in specialized cytoplasmic organelles called melanosomes Within the melanosome, the enzymatic conversion of the amino acid tyrosine to melanin is catalyzed by the enzyme tyrosinase. The melanosomes in darker portions of the skin are more active than those found in normal areas of the body. The ingredients found in this formula counter this process in multiple ways by dealing with not only the melanosomes, but also the enzyme tyrosinase. Generally you will begin to see initial results within the first 2 weeks of regular use. If the pigmentation in the affected area is extensive, results may take longer to appear. Most of our customers report seeing full results after 2-3 months of continuous daily use. Results will vary depending on your skin type, skin condition and the amount of sun exposure you receive on a daily basis. Does Meladerm® work on all kinds of hyperpigmentation? Hyperpigmentation can occur on many different layers of the skin. Though typically epidermal, hyperpigmentation can occasionally be dermal. Dermal pigmentation occurs underneath the skin where as epidermal is actually on the skin. In the case of dermal pigmentation, topical creams can not penetrate below the epidermis to alleviate the problem. Normally, the melanocytes are located in the basal layer of the epidermis and an increase in number or activity will cause epidermal hyperpigmentation. However, formed melanin may be transferred to the dermis or, in some cases, dermal melanocytes are present. Topical creams, including Meladerm®, are generally only effective on epidermal hyperpigmentation. To determine what kind of pigmentation exists in your skin, we recommend consulting with a qualified dermatologist. Are the results with Meladerm® permanent? Do I have to continue using the product after I achieve my desired results? If you are using Meladerm® to reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmented areas (skin that is darker than your natural skin color), the results will generally be permanent. Some users find it necessary to use small periodic applications from time to time to maintain the effects of the product. Sun exposure should be limited to maintain results. We recommend the use of a sun block of SPF 30 or higher. Extended use may cause excessive skin lightening. How long will the Meladerm® 1.7 oz size last? On average, the 1.7 oz jar should last 1-2 months if used twice a day to treat affected areas. Should Meladerm® be applied preciously on the dark spots or in the general areas of the affected skin? The product should be applied in the general areas of the affected skin. For example, if you are treating several acne marks on the forehead, cheeks and chin, you may apply the cream on the entire face in order to gradually fade the spots. Can I use Meladerm® to lighten freckles, melasma, sun damage, acne scars, dark spots and liver spots? Yes. Meladerm® work very well to lighten all types of hyper-pigmented areas on the face and body. How does Meladerm® brighten the skin? Years of sun exposure will gradually cause exposed skin to become dull and often blotchy. Meladerm® works to brighten the overall complexion by reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation associated with sun damage. Over the course of a few months, treated skin will gradually become softer and eventually be restored to its original luminous color and texture. Does Meladerm® work on dark, African American and/or ethnic skin tones? Yes. Our products have been proven to work on all skin types, regardless of color and ethnicity. Individuals with very dark skin tones may take longer to see results. Can your products be used by men and women? Yes. The products are suitable for both men and women.. Meladerm® Usage Directions: Wash and dry skin. Apply an even layer over the affected area twice daily. Massage thoroughly until cream is absorbed completely into the skin. Best results if used after exfoliation scrub. As with all skincare products, please consult with a dermatologist prior to use if you have any underlying medical conditions or general concerns. Long term treatments with any product should be monitored by a medical professional. Apply once in the morning and once at night for best results. Store in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Do not dismantle the container as this will allow air and light to oxidize with the product. Warning: Avoid contact with eyes. FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. 10th Jan 2012 Hi guys and gals. My name is Melinda and I just want everyone to know that this product is wonderful. I went from having acne scars all over my face to very little dots I'm on my second bottle now and it's working. Trust me I've tried everything in the book I've used home remedies, zenmed, proactiv,clean n clear, each and every product that they show on tv and boy oh boy nothing worked except this and I was very skeptical too. But thanks to meladerm I can now walk out of home with now thick blanket of makeup on to cover my spots. Now all I use is the aveeno spf70 for the face and I'm ready to go. As a face cleasner I use regular noxema. I had never tried this but I decided to use it and its a great combination. I even use the noxema facial wash as a 20 minute mask and oh man it works wonders. First of all I would like to appologise for how long this review will be but I must get my story out there so people like me can finally feel pretty and free to wear what they want. I'm not very old but when I was around the age of 7 I began to pick at scabs on my arms, legs, and face after being bullied severly for years. This left me with very dark red-ish post inflamatory hyper-pigmentation, this never bothered me until I hit puberty but as soon as I did It really affected my life. I've always had to cover up and have never been able to look as gorgeous as my friends even though I aren't ugly, my skin has prohibited me from wearing beautiful clothes I like for years and being really into fashion this had taken me into severe depression and agoraphobia. I would like to say to anyone who has hyper-pigmentation YOU MUST TRY THIS PRODUCT! I promise you from the bottom of my heart that it works, It's only been a week for me and with my having so much to treat I've run out (the small bottle) but the results are remarkable. I didn't see anything the first day or the second but after the third day of using it morning and night on my face and arms they have faded so much.
