Traditionally, home teeth whitening kits use a variety of bleaches to strip away stains caused by nicotine, caffeine and those dirty tannins found in tea and red wine.
While peroxide (you ‘natural’ blondes will be familiar with this), is the most common bleaching agent used in at-home teeth bleaching agent in the States, it has to be used in such high concentrations to be effective, that this side of the pond we prefer to play it safe with a gentler approach.
Cue Chlorine Dioxide, the super-cleaning ingredient found in Brilliant's Gentle Formula. When the Accelerator and Whitening Gel mix together, the resulting Chlorine Dioxide gently lifts away the stains to reveal whiter teeth without running the risk of damaging the surface enamel of your teeth or your delicate gums. Brilliant!

DIY or Pay a Professional?
While a trip to the dentist’s chair can be expensive, at-home formulas are often ineffective, as legally they can only use a maximum of 0.1% peroxide - too small an amount to cause any damage, but also too minute to effectively remove stains. Q) How much will Brilliant whiten my teeth?
A) All the Brilliant kits and Whitestick have shade claims so that you can tell how many shades lighter your teeth can become. These claims are supported by our product testing and we're so confident of these that you can measure your results on the Tooth Shade Guide which is included in the pack.

Q) How quickly will Brilliant whiten my teeth?
A) Depending on the condition of your teeth, you should start to see results within the first 3-4 days of use.

Q) Is Brilliant as good as getting your teeth whitened at the dentist?
A) Brilliant cannot be directly compared with the whitening treatments available in dentists as these are based on high level peroxide formulations. These products are often faster at tackling staining within the teeth; however, they tend to be quite expensive. You should always remember that neither professional nor home use chemical whitening treatments can whiten teeth beyond your natural tooth shade. Tooth shades vary between individuals, as with skin tone, and the only way to improve tooth colour beyond this is by applying veneers.

Q) How long should I use Brilliant for?
A) We recommend using the Brilliant Kits and Whitestick  for 5-10 minutes twice a day for up to 14 days at a time. You should always follow the instructions carefully; using more whitening gel or leaving the product on your teeth for longer will not give more whitening.

Q) Do I use the Brilliant kits and Whitestick  instead of my regular toothpaste?
A) No, you should continue to use your regular toothpaste as normal. You should brush teeth after every meal (or at least twice a day) for 2 minutes.

Q) Should I speak to my dentist before using Brilliant?
A) You should visit your dentist every 6 months to make sure your teeth are healthy. Providing you do so, there is no need to consult a dentist before using Brilliant.

Q) How often can I use a Brilliant kit?
A) We don't recommend using a Brilliant Kit more than once every 3-4 months. If you have good oral hygiene you shouldn't need to use a kit more often than this. When using the Brilliant Whitestick  as a 14 day treatment again you should only need to repeat this every 3-4 months; however, the Whitestick can also be used with the kits as part of a routine for whitening top ups whenever you want a brighter, whiter, smile!

Q) Is Brilliant safe to use? Are there any side effects?
A) There are no side effects to using Brilliant. You might feel a slight tingling sensation during use, this is perfectly normal. If the tingling becomes uncomfortable you should stop using the product.

Q) Will using Brilliant hurt?
A) Using Brilliant is not painful. When using the kits some people find the mouth tray uncomfortable, if you do, why not try a Whitestick instead.

Q) Does Brilliant give the same results for everyone?
A) Brilliant will improve the whiteness of everybody's teeth; however, results will vary for each person.

Q) How long will the results last?
A) Tea, coffee, red wine and smoking are just a few things which cause stains on your teeth. The length of time the results last will depend on your lifestyle and how often your teeth are exposed to things which stain them. Under average circumstances you should not need to use a kit or Whitestick more than once every 3-4 months.

Q) What does Brilliant taste of?
A) The whitening gel in each of the Brilliant Kits and Whitesticks has a fresh minty taste.

Q) Can I use Brilliant if I am pregnant?
A) We do not recommend Brilliant for use by pregnant women or nursing mothers. There is no evidence of risk to these individuals; however, as extra care should be taken under these circumstances we feel it best to offer this advice.

Q) How old should I be to use Brilliant?
A) We do not recommend that anyone under 14 years old uses Brilliant.

Q) Are the Brilliant Kits and Whitesticks safe to use with crowns and caps?
A) Brilliant Kits and Whitesticks work on natural human teeth only, they will not harm fillings, crowns and caps. They are not suitable to use if you are wearing dental braces.
