Hyperpigmentation Tip

Hyperpigmentation can occur in large patches or small spots and, most commonly on the face and the back of your hands. Melanin is a type of pigment which produces colour in the the eyes, skin, and hair. As we age, this becomes less evenly spread and more irregular. UV light encourages melanin activity, and where the concentrations of the cells are more dense than the surrounding areas, hyperpigmentation will occur.

The other type of hyperpigmentation is called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This is where dark spots and marks appear on the skin after a bout of severe acne, sun damage or injury that has since healed.

You can successfully treat hyperpigmentation with the products specialist skin cream and serums. Look out for serums or creams that contain the following effective ingredients: kojic acid, glycolic acid and other AHA's, salicylic acid, vitamin c, retinol, vitamin e, arbutin, mulberry extract and licorice extract.
